    Very odd results there with the scotch bonnets mate. Yours are a bit further ahead of mine, but will check what I get with mine once they grow through. The bonnets were isolated, but I have only been isolating those specific ones for about 3 years, so most likely some regression from previous crossing. I would have assumed the original seeds I received before I started isolating were stable/isolated, but possibly not. Regardless, be interesting to see what they ripen to! Another good update Peter, your season has got off to a great start. Been pretty slow over this side of the world. The weather is finally starting to improve, so looking forward to some growth spurts!

    Hi Peter. Do you still grow the PI 439452 Creme? Semillas La Palma haven't listed it for some time now but the following may be of interest: Today I noticed an online shop with seeds for 'Aji LEILLO' - which is a similarly shaped and coloured C. chinense pod, with a variable heat of 20,000-150,00 SHU's. Says it was possibly used to make chilli cocoa by the Mayans (so more northerly than Peru) and has an "exceptional aroma", is very rare, the plant is easy to grow and produces "countless fruits". A pity but the suppliers called 'Doom Rabbit Seeds' only ship within Germany and to Switzerland & Austria at the moment but has anyone else out there heard of or grown 'Aji Leillo'?

    Question: Should someone get a second Aerogarden or the big pot farm for strawberries? Could the big one do potatoes? It looks crazy huge to empty every 2 weeks, which I do. Just use one fertilizer and replace all the water every 2 weeks with a cleaning. You don't need +/- that way. It starts new every cleaning.

    • @pepperdactyl
      @pepperdactyl 6 дней назад

      I haven’t tried growing strawberries or potatoes hydroponically. Your method of changing out the water and nutrients every couple of weeks is good. I’m usually too lazy to do that often with mine, but I think it’s ideal for the plants.

    • @elainegmorrison
      @elainegmorrison 6 дней назад

      @@pepperdactyl I'm lazy too. It usually goes to the 3 week mark before I force myself to do it, but it means you start with new water and nutrients and not an imbalanced concoction. When I'm late, however, I notice some minor algae starts on the edges of the container, right on queue, so the Aero nutes every 2 weeks is anti-fungal. It is the secret sauce. I couldn't get cheapie straw seeds, until some cheap strawberries appeared in the store. I got a cheap plant instead. I also put an eyeing potato in a dirt bag. It's a monster of growth! Hope there are potatoes at the end. One could always put the dirt bag inside under a grow lamp in winter. Easier. I guess same for a strawberry plant. Oh, the huge hydro farm used a LOT of store nutes and I thought it would wind up being more expensive because of that so I just got a second half-Aero for more dill/lettuce/pea shoots. Why not grow soil plants inside in winter with a lamp? I guess this is the time I wish the balcony could be legally enclosed as a solarium.

    • @pepperdactyl

      For most seeds, I don’t think it hurts. Some are sensitive to it. What I do now is pinch off a small piece of the sponge and place that in the hole over the seeds. This blocks light and helps keep some humidity in. I let the lights operate on schedule. When sprouts emerge, they have it available.

    • @pepperdactyl
      @pepperdactyl Месяц назад

      I wouldn't advise using it without the hole. If you accidentally overfill, there's not an easy way to get the water back out. It's possible the water level indicator could get stuck, or something could happen to falsely indicate the water level. I wouldn't rely on that. Having the hole there also allows some air to get in which helps the roots. Hope this helps.

    • @pepperdactyl
      @pepperdactyl 6 дней назад

      With rocotos, it helps to soak the seeds over night, and use a humidity dome after planting. Can just be a small clear cup sitting on top. If seeds are in a cup, a small ziplock bag over the cup. The fresher the seeds the better. It might take 8 or 9 days.

Why does a good product need that kind of reviewing if it stands for itself?!

      I think it’s just a form of advertising. They can probably even write off those products in the their advertising expenses. A lot of companies do it. I’ve noticed some companies send their products to anyone, others (like aerogarden) are super selective. But I think reviewers should be honest and say if it was given for free to review.

    Looking good Peter. Like the Auto-pot setup. there is much to be said and desired about simplicity of use. Might have to look into that. Wishing you a great season.

      Thanks, Jeff. Yeah I like the autopot coco mat system. I can feed and water all the plants at once by just dumping nutrient water in the tray. I think I might have started them a little too early. I over compensated for last year starting them late. I hope you have a great season too.
